This book was highly informative, it went over the BTK case in detail, but a bit too much detail. I didn’t need to know every move the police and reporters made. I think they tried to make themselves part of the story's heroes because the writers were the reporters. They did give the police a lot of credit, but also, in my opinion, overinflated their roles.

Overall, it was an intense book, I am glad they didn’t get overly graphic in their depictions of the crimes, it was graphic but not salaciously so. If you already know quite a bit about this case, you may still learn a few things, mostly corrections of commonly misreported things. However, if you follow reputable sources that do their homework, then you won’t learn much from this book.

Narrator Rating: 4.0 stars
The narrator did an acceptable job, but nothing special. Still better than most non-fiction narrators, but certainly not the best.

Very well written and informative. I appreciated the story type telling mixed with the analytical aspect. The narrator was great though being from Kansas a few mispronunciation of local news stations and places did bother me.

This book starts off really well, but I started struggling with it after about 50/60%. I liked the way the first several chapters are written, and that they are short. I found it interesting that there wasn't the usual section about the killer's childhood, family, and upbringing, but I liked the way the book was written in a simple and linear way, with the details of BTK's crimes and the events of the day combined with the police investigation.
To be honest, I think the book starts to falter a bit after BTK stopped being active. I felt the authors didn't know what to put in those many years from around 1980 to around 2004 and I found myself skimming the sections a bit while there was some discussion about writing articles and starting and ending task forces etc.
I found his capture to be very interesting too- the way he was caught, his reaction etc. Overall this is a pretty readable account of BTK and his crimes.
