A tense, complex thriller. It’s hard to discuss this book in a brief review. It tackles so many subjects — some better than others and certain elements have not aged well — but it’s a very worthwhile read. I had a knot in my stomach the entire time. So compelling and propulsive.

A weird as hell concept, but entertaining and stays interesting as it develops.

It’s weird how some people write a 600 page book when they could’ve just gotten on reddit dot com to post “I hate women” and it would’ve had the same effect.

That's gonna be a big ol nope from me dawg. Everything about this is ugly and I am just not going to follow this man-child for 24 issues lol

Bland and vapid characters; boring and airbrushed-looking art (with obvious concealment of nudity); silly plot that goes on way too long; dialogue worse than Plan 9 From Outer Space (Ok, it wasn't that bad...perhaps a Michael Bay movie). The only thing that kept me reading was to discover whether I was right in assuming a particular, extraterrestrial origin. [1 and 1/2 stars]

Girls is an amazingly brutal trainwreck that I just couldn't quite make myself look away from. It feels like every horror movie, but far more honest.
Almost none of the characters are even slightly decent and that is probably pretty realistic about how we treat each other and how that can be exacerbated in a crisis.
It blatantly showcases how fucked up gender roles are and how sexism ties people in place. Sometimes it feels like an intentionally over-wrought morality play on how the patriarchy reacts to competent women and the general incompetence of males, other times you just feel like screaming 'holy shit'.
Still not quite sure what to say about this.

This is the first time I've re-read Girls since the original release. It remains a wonderful series and while I do think some stronger art and better pacing in the middle could improve it some, it's a great horror title with a really interesting twist. Well worth checking out!
