A wonderfully Sherlockian way to ring in the season and spend a snowy afternoon weaving your way through London with the dynamic duo. This book left me with a smile and a warm heart.

This was a one sitting read for me, absolutely flew through it. It had everything I like in a Sherlock story: interesting characters who aren’t just black and white, a morally ambiguous decision Sherlock needs to make, a fun mystery and an emotionally hitting story. Bonnie is just the author for me. The way she writes her stories and characters resonate with me so well. And once again, she created an awesome ride full of everything that was a pleasure to read around the holidays.

Quick hits:
+ Sherlock and Watson are great per usual. Their friendship and banter were at an all time high.
+ Emotionally impactful story. Similar to Unquiet Spirits, this was a very grounded and human story about real people experiencing real issues. This felt like something that actually took place or could have taken place. I felt the emotional punch at the end.
+ Well drawn and realistic characters. They’re all flawed and human, making Sherlock’s decisions more impactful.
+ Heffie, Heffie and more Heffie. She’s just so much fun.
+ Fast paced and original. Great resolution to the mystery.

Overall, another banger from Bonnie. Highly recommend for Sherlock fans as well as mystery fans. Unfortunately for me, I’m caught up now and have to wait like the rest of you. But I look forward to the next adventure!

Sherlock comes to the rescue of a well-to-do lady in her hour of need while travelling around the streets of London with his friend, Dr Watson. He notices her attempting to keep her young kid, Jonathan, from being forcefully seized by an unknown man with a prominent scar over his eye. The lady is attacked and knocked over during the fight, and Watson looks after her and her scared son while Sherlock takes flight across a cold London to apprehend this vicious villain. Holmes and Watson set about assisting this wealthy lady in locating the criminal and preventing another kidnapping attempt. We also meet the adorable and hilarious Hettie, who assists the MET with undercover operations. We also meet the highly entertaining and lovable Hettie, who helps the MET with covert operations, and she also aids Holmes with another client, searching for his missing adult son.

This book is a lovely, festive, easy read, and I enjoyed the addition of Hettie to the tale. It captured the essence of a Victorian Christmas and a traditional Sherlock Holmes Case. I found this to be the perfect cosy read for this time of year and will read other Sherlock Adventures by Bonnie MacBird.

There are beautiful illustrations throughout the book by Frank Cho, which are a lovely addition.

What a nice, cozy holiday read! Watson and Sherlock both felt exactly like the originals (or how I picture them). The cases were okay at best, and I really didn't feel any tension for most of the book. I feel both sets of parents should be in Jonathan's life, and that Sherlock could've thought of a better alternative.

The Grinch Holmes is very funny and the solid mystery kept me turning pages.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this arc, all opinions are mine

One of my favorite Sherlock Holmes series. This wasn't my favorite in the series, but I still really enjoyed it. I felt like the first case was solved too quickly, and didn't add anything lasting to the overall story. <Spoiler> I also had mixed feelings about Jonathan's (Christopher) birth parents. Like maybe the Endicotts could have taken them on as servants at the house so they could see their son, without him knowing who they really were, and they would be provided for as servants. Better pay and housing etc. </Spoiler>
I also feel like this book went very quickly and the story wasn't as deep or mysterious as the previous books.
I otherwise still liked the book and read it in only a few days. Can't wait for what Bonnie MacBird writes next!
