Love it

I started this series with Del. After finishing Nix’s story, I wasn’t going to bother with going back to the beginning with Cass’s story. I’m glad I changed my mind. Linsey Hall’s books are definitely worth the time.

This cover is beautiful, I am in love with the pinks, purples and blues. Ah so nice!!

On the actual story note, I actually really enjoyed this book, I am so intrigued to find out more about the 3 girls, what they are, why they are like this, how their family is/are, and why do they not remember anything past 10 years ago. I have a few theories to mull over but this series could be a massive hit for me if the author carries on the momentum in the next book. (I hope so!)

So we focus on just one of the three girls, Cass (love that name), her 'sisters' are Nix and Del. Each girl has their own 'gift' and has their own back ground story which I hope we explore. Now the difficulty with creating such good strong female leads is I want to know all about Cass as we have started with her, but I need to know all about Nix and Del without taking away from Cass and at the moment I am not sure how the next books will go down to make sure each story is told fairly.

A really interesting book I have to say, I was more into it than I previously thought.
It's well written and well explained, my only negative point is that it's going too fast for my taste BUT ... I really enjoy reading it. I might look into book 2 and see how it goes ;)

This was an action packed book. A witch with a secret, a hot magic shapeshifter....so much fun or it should've been... the premise was good just the characters had no depth.. it was like here's a girl she has some major secrets. Here's a boy he's all-powerful and dangerous. They're now in love. Nothing in between.

Editor Needed

The plot and characters of this book were okay. They were all very Mary Sue, but likable. The world was interesting and I liked the idea of Fire Souls. The biggest thing needed was an editor to smooth the edges of the story and make it not seem so step by step. My biggest complaint was that colors kept changing. One sentence had Nix with green eyes, then a couple paragraphs later they were brown. One sentence said Nix’s hair was a crimson wave, then it was black. It really jerked you out of the story. So annoying! I probably won’t go on to the next one. It was way to G-rated for me.

Ancient Magic was fast paced from beginning to end.

We start with 3 girls who have no idea who they are being chased in the woods.

We learn they are FireSouls (they can steal the magical gifts of others by killing the original owner). Because FireSouls are feared they hide their identity.

Years later, we find Cass, Del and Nix working together as treasure hunters.

Aidan Merrick, a powerful supernatural being seeks Cass' help in finding the Scroll of Truth (A compendium of knowledge about the strongest Magica and shifters).

Cass accepts because she wants to understand her origin: she still can't remember who she is and where she came from.

The journey to find TSoT was well done.

I love the story, the friendship between Cass, Del and Nix. Their strength and support of one another. I loved the fact they made a life for themselves despite losing their memories. The friendship between them is strong and there are no secrets between them.

The core of the story in this book is Cass. I enjoyed taking the ride with her.

Looking forward to the next book in the series, the further development of the characters, Cass relationship with Aidan who is a great male lead : always supportive never thinking Cass cant hold her own in a fight.

If you love well written books with strong female heroines, lots of action and drama, than you will love Ancient Magic.

I know a lot of people say this book has flat characters and weak world-building but I don’t care. I love me some magic in books and this one definitely did. I just love how Cass almost gives into her cravings when she sees treasure but she stops herself. Shows some self-control. I really want to learn more about the Firesouls but I think Linsey is going to give more information over the course of the series so I hope for that. Great start to a potential new favorite series ( I don’t know, we’ll see in the future).

A young girl and her two sisters have a forbidden magic class. She earns her money with tomb raiding.
Until another magic user (big, good looking, rich) hires her to find a magic artifact that could reveal her secret.
well - the tomb raiding part was nicely written. the romance was a bit "in your face" but overall a nice read for a sunny sunday afternoon in the garden.

I am not a fan of the writing in this book while the blurd made it sound interesting I was disappointed. I did feel like things where explained well. You don't remember your name but you know how old you are? Also the male leads was to perfect. He was to good looking and rich to be believable! Also he was a little too instancly in love etc. Overall not worth it to me.
