This book was weird. I feel like I liked it and hated it. I found the characters very unlikeable and they lacked any depth - especially the females. The way attraction between characters was written was so cheesy and dated… like I get it, the men have muscles, who cares? When the story shifted viewpoints it became more disturbing, and honestly parts of it felt really uncomfortable to read. Characters related to the twist were predictable, but the details were not what I expected. I probably wouldn’t recommend this one because the details of the twist really gave me the ick, but it was a fairly fast paced easy read. I know this is being turned into a movie and I can see it being a decently entertaining though forgettable film on stream.

I absolutely devoured this.

This was the second Freida McFadden book that I’ve read. I haven’t read many thrillers so take this review with the grain of salt. I loved every second of it. I hate horror, but I’m a big fan of psychological thrillers. This is very fast-paced and keeps you on your toes the whole time. I highly recommend it.

I loved this way more than I want to admit. It was as twisted as Flowers in the Attic and as delicious as the most decadent chocolate cake. I thought I was going to hate it as the story unfolded, but the second twist immediately undid my reservations. I thought it was going to be a story of the princess waiting to be rescued by the prince. I was extremely wrong and oh so happy to be wrong. And I realize that I love this book because I harbor a modicum of internalized, impotent, simmering rage for all the women who’ve been in Nina and Millie’s positions, myself included (though certainly to a much, much lesser degree). I have a feeling lot of us women identify with these characters more than we want to think about. I’ve read several books by Freida McFadden, and this one is my favorite. I really looking forward to the next one in the series.

I couldn't put this down! Great twists! I never would've predicted it. My first Freida book, and it got me hooked!

This was a total page turner for me, I was hooked. I went into it knowing basically nothing about the story and I definitely think that's the best way.

The basic premise is that a girl down on her luck and desperate takes a live-in housekeeper job with a rich family, but wonders what she's gotten herself into when the woman of the house starts behaving erratically.

This had some good twists and turns, with an ending that was kind of wickedly satisfying. It's definitely a popcorn thriller but I love that shit.

At the end there is an epilogue that teases the next book and I will for sure be reading it.

(Big trigger warning for gaslighting)
