I think a lot of Bahcall's ideas are good, but sometimes he takes them too far -- sometimes the phase transition description goes too far. Also, I think Bahcall sometimes presents a one sided story. For example he clearly believes that small biotechs, and not big pharma, are where novel drugs, are developed. However, he glosses over the downsides of smaller biotech -- that they fail to kill drugs that should be killed because they don't have any other drugs coming down the pipeline. Also, he gives the example of the immunotherapy drugs, and while the smaller biotechs may have discovered the drugs, big pharmas were responsible for developing the drugs into the blockbusters they are.

This book really made me think about inventions, entrepreneurs, and my own experiences in a different way.  Multiple examples included across disciplines.  At times the choices used to demonstrate bogged down, but that can be forgiven for the "whoa" moments the book gave.

It’s a collection of really entertaining aphorisms about creativity. I don’t really believe them. I think this book misses a fair number of real world practicalities that should be applied to the situations.

Fascinating discussion about the importance of balancing "franchises" and "loonshots" in business. I've worked on both sides throughout my career, so was able to identify and relate the arguments and stories to my experiences. Lots of good material here.

Most helpful, educational, and intriguing business book I've read yet! A must-read for those looking to build or re-build nimble teams and/or those who want a peak into the back-end of innovations that revolutionize industries.
