A Deeper Darkness is a compelling mystery that provides an in-depth view into the oftentimes unseen toll that war takes on servicemembers and their families. To read my review in its entirety, please visit http://www.bookreviewsandmorebykathy.com/2012/04/24/a-deeper-darkness/

I had read this book years ago, it must have been when it first come out. Not sure why I didn't have it marked read on here! Regardless, it's a great book. Compelling personal story, complicated murder mystery, slight dash of romance.

Unread shelf project 2020: book 11. ✨

A surprisingly good military-related thriller, with many twists and turns that I didn’t expect. Near the end, it was a little confusing with so many twists and turns in so few pages, I think I got whiplash. However, I was also distracted by Governor DeWine’s 4th press conference of the week so ya know, that could’ve played a part in my slight confusion.

I really liked this book and it would have gotten 4 starts from me if it wouldn't have been for the end. That just felt rushed and out of place for me.

It was an enjoyable book though it was a bit slow in places. A good mystery where the reader is given all the pieces as Sam and Fletch discovered them.

What a fantastic, captivating read! I really like Ellison's Taylor Jackson series so I was really keen to see how Samantha Owens would fare as a lead. I was not disappointed! She is a strong, complex character. Somebody's who's broken but still keeps going. Sam's a beautifully written character, somebody I felt for and really want to find peace again. It was great to see how she develops as a character through the story and I can't wait to see what future holds for her.
A Deeper Darkness is a thrilling read and I cannot wait to read the next book in the series!

I won my copy of this book through Good Reads First Reads Giveaways in exchange for an honest review, so here goes:

I really loved this book - it is exactly what I enjoy reading in a thriller. It kept me constantly on my toes, as every time I felt I'd got a handle on what was going on and whodunit, somebody else turned up with a gun in their hands. Right up to the dramatic ending, it really could have gone any way. I felt this was so well written. I love the fact that at the start of every chapter you are told the location the action starts in and which character you are following. (More authors really need to do this!) After finishing this book, and reflecting back on what I'd read, I can see all the clever clues the author laid along the way, pointing to answers. But I was just too caught up in what I was reading as I went along to see the full picture until after. I am so looking out for more books by this author!

1st book in the Samantha Owens series (she is also a minor role in the Taylor Jackson series) This book kept me guessing on who the killer was with the twists & turns & all of the characters. A military drama, DC police, & coverup. Good mystery & characters that I'm sure will be in the next book. I will read the next in the series
