So this was super dense, and I'd be lying if I said that I didn't zone out in parts of the audiobook. I think it might be that the writing style just isn't for me, it feels kind of dry. That being said after reading I'm left thinking that people like Putin and the people around him make life really difficult and complicated for themselves. Imagine being at the top of Russia's system and schemes and having to keep track of large parts of the labyrinth fuckery going on.
I'm also surprised, but not really surprised that a bank from my country (Danske Bank) bought a russian bank, and then continued not to check on the movement of money... even though I think that they had to per the law in Denmark at the time. But I'm not entirely sure about the law thing, but still. Even if the world didn't know as much about how Russia operates at the time, I'd say there were enough clues to be a bit more vigilant.

This made me go :O practically every paragraph. Such important work. Definitely driving home the kgb angle but that is the point of the book I guess.

You know it's a book about facts when the subjects of said book have tried to get it banned and sue the author for 'leaving the wrong impression'.

If you're looking for a quick read, this isn't it. If you're looking for something comprehensive and super well researched, this is the book.
