I really enjoyed this book!! It was very sweet and sentimental, and I think it handled the heavier topics really well. Reading this felt like biking in a  small, new england countryside town's roads in front of sunflower fields during the summer, and staring at komorebi while hiking near a lake.
I always enjoy coming-of-age stories of self-discovery like this.
Also, I feel like the main character deals with some worries and expectations I've felt before, and I really felt seen ー her struggles with fears of catastrophe really mirrorred my own, which are connected to my OCD. It really felt like she struggled with OCD triggered by her mom's death, and that completing the list during the summer helped her ease her suffering a little. I could really relate to her as I used to be a carefree child, too, and started to feel more and more scared of living my own life as I grew older and my OCD worsened. It's nice to see an inspiring story like this, where she found strength in her friends, family and in newfound relationships. Makes me think that maybe I can find some strength, too.
Overall, a really lovely, sweet, inspiring book. A perfect summer read!!!

i had so much fun with this!!
it took me so long to really LOVE emily, the main character after
what happened at prom
but when you really dive into that, i got attached anyway - which is exactly what i expect for a rachael lippincott book!! i loved how it handled deep themes like grief, loss and the way comp-het was represented was so good!! apparently i was NOT MENTALLY READY for emily to struggle as much as she did, and i SOBBED several times, but honestly that's my favorite type of books!!

A wonderful YA novel that deals with complex topics such as grief, loss of a parent, finding oneself, rekindling relationships, and falling in love.
Our main character is dealing with the heavy loss of her mother, losing her friend group, having to leave her childhood home, and rekindling an old friendship.
The pace starts out slow and it feels like you’re grieving with her as she processes her thoughts and feelings while slowly trusting her new-old friend. The pace picks up the more she lets go of her fears and tries to right her wrongs, enjoy her summer, and eventually falling in love.
