What the hell?! Really Chase? Really?! I spent the last books.wanting o smack you for acting the way you were acting and now you do that? Now I just want to hug you for what you did! He freaking saved them all!

Now Hunter and Corinne...well I think their story wasn't very interesting..though I really like Hunter there were others parts of the book that were way better. Corinne..at first I kinda didn't like her but now...we can say I tolerate her.

Finally we know more things about Gideon and Savannah! The author needs to write a book about them!!!!

Kellan and Mira moments *-* So adorable

I really enjoyed this book, but for some reason it didn't hold my attention like the previous books in the series. At first I didn't really see how Corinne and Hunter could fit together because he's so fierce and she's so fragile, but I think that's exactly why they fit. They are what the other isn't and can take that strength or vulnerability from the other.

I never saw that ending coming and that's why it was my favourite part. I can't wait to see how the story continues, especially since it's Chase's turn to hopefully have a happy ending.

Deeper Than Midnight, installment #9 of the Midnight Breed series is as good as expected. I really wanted to read this when it came out last summer, but honestly, I could not bring myself to pay the newly released book price!!! I know, shame on me. Due to me waiting, it’s been a while since I read the previous book, but the author added enough references to previous situations that as I read along, the details from the past story lines clicked back into place. Thanks for the refresher! This time around we get see how Hunter and Corinne get together. Hunter whom once was in the service of Dragos for many years as an assassin, not with the Order volunteered to escort Corinne to her home in Detroit after she is rescued with other women from Dragos’s prison. Upon returning her to her Darkhaven home he gets a funny feeling about her father’s behavior and things he said. Turns out her father allowed Dragos to kidnap her and he tried to cover it up! Just horrible! If you’re new to this series, Dragos used and abused these women to no end trying to get them to reproduce Gen One vamps with a Ancient that he held captive. Side note: we find out that Hunter was the first of the children ever born by the Ancient that Dragos kept as prisoner. As a result of the things inflicted upon Corinne during her capture, she had a son that Dragos took from her at birth. A baby boy she has never seen since she gave birth about 13 years ago, who she named Nathan. We can pretty much predict what happens there.

What’s different about this book than the others is that we get almost equal parts of another story lines. It’s I recall that the couple was the focus of the story and the sub stories were just that, secondary. In this book, the other parts seemed just as equally important as Hunter and Corinne coupling. Chase was the other focal point in this book. He pretty much almost fell into Bloodlust. Yet, his warrior roots had him in pursuit of Dragos and others that could lead him to them. Not only has he gone basically crazy with wanting blood, but before he runs off and leaves the Order, he really lashes out at Elise. For you all who don’t know who she is, it’s his dead brothers widow. Yes he “thought” he was in love with her, but really, he needs to let that go. She’s mated to someone else in the Order. So please, Ms. Adrian, let’s not go there again. ;-) Yet, in the end, as we love about these warriors of The Order, they always redeem themselves, as does Chase.

We also got a little bit of story regarding the other warriors and their mates and get a little bit of an update on them. Dante and Tess had their baby boy in this installment. As well do we get to know more about Kellen Archer and his grandfather, whom made their first appearance in the last book. We even got a few scenes between Lucan and Gabriella.

We are left with a serious cliff hanger and lead into the next book! I read the first chapter of the next book, and it starts off just where this book left off and it looks promising. I look forward to reading the next installment, Darker Than Midnight.

Deeper than Midnight

Synopsis:
At the age of 18, Corinne Bishop’s life was shattered when she was kidnapped and subjected to horrifying experiments at the hands of the monstrous Breed known as Dragos. Now that she has been rescued, Corinne only want to return home and get on with her life. Accompanied by the most enigmatic of the warriors of the Order, Hunter, Corrine arrives home only to discover that things are not as they appear and that her life and heart may be in even more danger than before.

Review:
Wow! What an intense ride

Hunter and Corinne are a great couple. They are both terribly scarred and have so much to overcome in order to love and trust again. The development of their relationship is slow but consistent with their characterization, and even though it is not as steamy as in previous books, it is just as romantic and perhaps even more so.

Hunter has always been one of my favorite characters with his hard and harsh exterior but his softness and need to protect others on the inside. This is never more apparent than in his interaction with Corrine. For her part, Corrine is an amazing woman with an inner strength that defies all logic. I love the fact that Hunter finds a mate who is worthy and accepting of him and vice versa.

More details are provided with regard to Chase’s mental and physical deterioration. He has always been an ambiguous character, and while one cannot help but feel for what he has suffered, he is also a jerk and wallows too much in self-pity. It will be interesting to see what happens in his book, and I have no doubt that he will redeem himself and get his own HEA.

In terms of the writing, the first half of the book progresses more slowly - possibly because the parts with Chase descending into Bloodlust distract from the development of Hunter and Corrine's story - but the second half is intense with excellent action scenes and exciting revelations.

The book ends on a small cliffhanger and I am very happy that I don’t have to wait too long for the next installment.

Kurz-Meinung:
In diesem 8.

NOTE: The Midnight Breed series is my favorite series of all time. I love Lara Adrian's writing and the stories that she has crafted. Hunter is a character I have been drawn to since he was introduced and was not disappointed in his story.

What I Loved: Hunter was everything I knew he could be in this story. From the moment he was introduced in the series, you knew he was different from the rest of the Order. He is more stoic, quiet, and singular which in a way made him more intriguing to me. I also knew this would be why I loved this book more than some of my friends that have read it. I wanted to see how he went from being singular to caring with all his heart, mind, body, and soul about someone else. The journey that he and Corinne took was slow and methodical which was exactly what was expected. Corinne was the perfect mate for Hunter because she was scarred, scared, and fighting to get back to normal after her ordeal. Their passion once it ignited was off the charts and healing to both of them. Oh I also love who said I love you first!

(There are things that I loved that would be considered spoilers so leaving them out.)

What I Liked: This book had a great balance of romance and action with most of the action coming from the other members of The Order. We got to see a lot of forward story in this book with Dragos, The Order, and the issues Chase (Harvard) is dealing with. While at times, I thought it overwhelmed Hunter/Corinne's story at this point in the series I thought it was necessary. Since I love series and story arches it really worked for me.

Complaints: I could have used a little more time with Hunter/Corinne after the passion ignited but sometimes something has to give.

Why I gave it a 4.25: I finished this book in a day and half squeezing it in between work, working out, book club, and other obligations. I feel it was a great addition to the series.

This book was so good! It was like the others in the series, and at the same time different. Instead of ending with a happy ending, it was a total cliff hanger that made me want to read the next one asap. As always, I loved the violence and the passion that took place within this book. This series is just too addictive. I really hope there is more to come after the next one, or I might just lose my mind!

I really wanted to love this book because this has been one of my favorite series for a long time but it just wasn't what I expected at all. As most fans if the Breed series I have been dying for Hunter's book but this felt like it was more of a catch up on old story lines and a set up for the future. I had a very hard time believing in Hunter and Corrine's love adventure for a couple of reasons. First, they were only together for maybe a week and they are throwing out "I love you's" and "you're my homes" which I never buy into and ruin stories for me. Add in the fact that Corrine has been tortured and raped for YEARS and after a week of being free jumps into bed with Hunter I was just not feeling or believing anything in this book. I did enjoy the set up for Chases book and I Loved that Tess FINALLY had her baby. Other then those to things I would rate this in my least favorite pile of the series. I feel that a lot of authors have a hard time after a while with their series because there are so many characters and way too much stuff going on. The lead up to the following book takes up half of the book before it and I feel kinda cheated because of this. The beginning books were great because they were 80% about the couple and 20% of everything else now it's reversed and it's not fun anymore.
