[a:Jason Shiga|469075|Jason Shiga|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1391381898p2/469075.jpg] loves mazes and puzzles. It's very well documented in his deceptively simple looking art. With Demon, we get a dark as Hell puzzle. What happens if, having lost everything, and committed a heinous crime, you decided to end it all, only to find out that you couldn't die?

Why or how he can't die is, initially a mystery that that protagonist (Jimmy) solves after committing many more equally heinous crimes.

I'm not usually a fan of books that center around morally reprehensible people but there's something about Jimmy's exasperation, initial, cluelessness, and desire not to have someone else in control of his reprehensible power that had me rooting for him.

That was...weird. But also cool. I'd recommend this to, well, all the guys I hung out with in college. They'd like it. Especially Mike W., Anthony, and Jason - I think they'd like it. It's a little wonky, a little graphically gross, and a little funny.

This was nicely diverting & very different from the two other works I have read by Jason Shiga.

Mr Shiga: who broke your heart or what job or project or thing was sucking the life blood out of you that prompted this exercise in the first place?

Remarks on location:
I am moving this as a replacement to My Sister Rosa which my roommates keep snagging & then returning. Next time it comes back I'm putting a Post-it on it saying "See me for recommendations". I'm hoping this is too nihilistic for them.

Update: My roommate's oldest kid loved this!

I can't say Andy didn't warn me that this was messed up but....WOW! This book is so wrong and so right. I just hope that Shiga has a plan for where this will all end because this is a hell of a start!

Neat introduction to the series. I like the premise, and I like Jimmy’s journey so far. The story’s fast-paced, but it doesn’t feel rushed. It’s done well enough for everything to work.

The humor didn’t work for me most of the time. Every time Jimmy said a funny, it took me out of the story. But that only happened occasionally enough to where I can ignore it, so it’s fine.

All in all, I liked it. I was invested in the story, and I am curious to see how it continues. I’ll probably read the rest of the story at some point.
