Okay this is an even more hillbilly story than Giver of Stars. Whew. Sad but interesting, with quite the ending. Could've easily had another 100 pages because I need more information but less information from the protagonist actually stays true to the character! Would be great for a high school informal reading group.

⚠️trigger warning⚠️ SA, attempted rape, shitty family for the majority of story, and CHASE ANDREWS

1⭐️ I learnt more about kya life than what happened to Chase Andrews.
I actually did enjoy this for the most part, but I'm not supporting this author, so thank you again to my local library for not making me buy this.

Storyline sucked me in, I read this so quickly and really loved it. Kya was amazingly resilient and interesting. It made for such an addicting read. Loved learning about the swamp and thought it ended beautifully.

I thought overall it was a good story and it was cool to watch Kaia grow throughout the book. Sometimes I found myself skimming through the pages. It didn’t always hold my attention. I was definitely team tate.

Las descripciones que hace la autora sobre la marisma me transportaron a ella, aprendí a apreciar la riqueza que ofrece como hábitat de varias especies
