The development of the personal relationships, especially the love of mother and child, is so moving in this story.

The Great Alone is a book about love, family, heartbreak, forgiveness. It is painfully raw and doesn't hold back. I cried quite a few times and could see bits of the characters' stories through out my own life story.

Somewhat of a slow burn until 3/4 of the way through then a WHIRLWIND through the end. So far I haven't read a book by Hannah I haven't liked, and this one was no exception
