OMG!!!! This is hands down one of my favorite mafia arranged marriage books. The way Emelia lashes out and gives Nico so much attitude just soothed my soul. I hate a timid FMC. The banter was so great. Now it’s time to add CC Monroe’s backlog to my tbr.
Also the club and pikes place scenes live rent free in my head forever now.

Like age gap romance? Mafia? Arranged marriage? Strong fmc who learn how to not let morally grey men push them around? Then boy do I have the book rec for you! This book has spice and suspense and toxic family and revenge and morally grey men and everything that makes a book fun to read! It's the perfect guilty pleasure for a weekend read!

This book follows Emelia and Nico - they are from rival mafia families and have an arranged marriage.
They both hate each other and are using each other for one reason or another. This book had all my favorite tropes but man did this book give me whiplash. They were being calm and understanding one minute and then the next they would flip and start screaming at eachother. This happened repeated throughout the book and I just didn’t vibe with it
They did have some really good moments especially towards the end, they made some progress with actually communicating. I did like the characters individually and the plot was really interesting

Emelia Notelli is the daughter of a mob boss and is forced to marry the ruthless, Nico Dante Valiente. He is also a mob boss and it is her duty is to marry him to join the families and keep the peace. Although instead her father plans for her to become an informant to take down Nico. What she doesn’t know is that Nico has a plan of this own. Will she side with her family or the man she loves to hate?
I’m not sure what CC put into this book, but I ATE IT UP! I was hooked from the prologue. This has to be one of my favorite mafia books I’ve ever read. Not only did you get all the HOT push and pull of enemies to lovers, but the business side of it had me pulled in from the start. This has to be hands down the best book CC has released so far. You can tell she put her heart and soul into this one.
Emelia was such a brat and had me dying with every interaction she had with Nico. I love to see an alpha-hole try and keep his cool, all while completely losing it on the inside and outside.

I dont know why I thought I'd like a mafia romance with heavy smut when I don't like heavy smut and I need the love interests to NOT abuse each other (saying you won't abuse her then strangling her is still abuse). This isn't the book genre for me and I don't want to bash anyone who enjoys this sort of stuff but WHAT ON EARTH was that that I just read????
MC is literally living a waking nightmare and enjoying it her man has no redeeming qualities.
The only positive element of this is the body positivity part so yay for that. Think I can find plus size representation in books where people don't get f***** by Gu*s though in public

When I heard CC was doing mafia, I was so excited! This was pretty good!
