I got sent Justice League: Generation Lost as a review copy and now I am reading backwards in the DC Universe. Wow, it is a dark and confusing place. At this point, I think most of the major superheroes have died and been resurrected more than Marlena on Days of our Lives. This particular book was a bit over the top for me. A little too much pathos, a little too obvious, and a little too, "all you need is love." That being said, Ethan van Sciver is a sick artist and totally saved this book. The energy! The layouts! My eyes are actually burning from the electricity.

Barry Allen has always been my favorite Flash. I love Wally and Jay, don't get me wrong. But there's something about Barry's spirit that really appeals to me.

Eobard Thawne is one of my favorite villains because he messes with the hero's emotions. In my opinion, that is the most menacing kind of villain there is.

A lot of people think that the Flash can only just run really fast. No. The Flash can do so much more. So much more. Read this and be amazed.

How Barry Allen as Flash comes back from the dead and is used as a weapon against his own family. We learn more about what the Speed Force really is and see a refresh of the Flash family.

What better way to start of my reading year than with a comic that deals with the return of my most beloved superhero?
I got The Flash: Rebirth from my boyfriend for Christmas and it was the perfect gift. Up until now, I was only reading the comics he bought for himself, but now I have my very own. And I am so proud of it.
Bary Allen is a very special character for me, even though the tv show on the CW is mostly responsible for this. I have a soft spot for the scarlet speedster in my heart and whatever he does, it just warms my heart. And the Bary Allen in this comic is definitely the way I hoped he would be in the comic book world. His character is so well written, which is not a surprise considering who wrote The Flash: Rebirth. I loved the story Geoff Johns constructed for Barry after his return. I was really engaged in the story and I loved the little twists and turns. I also loved how we got to see various other characters. Hal Jordan was definitely my favorite (I loved the connection the two shared and how Hal was there for Barry and was not giving up on him). The 'side - characters' were a perfect addition to the story. Wally West especially impressed me here.
And the villain Geoff chose for Barry's return I highly enjoyed as well. The art was also very beautiful, I loved the colors so much. It was just so pleasing to look at and was completely in tune with the story itself.
I always really liked reading comics, but with this one it was different. This is where my heart is at. Bary Allen as The Flash is my favorite superhero and I was at the edge of my seat the whole time, I enjoyed every second of this comic so much. So a thumbs up for the characters, the plot and the art. This was one of the best, if not the best comic I have read so far.

Meh. Felt like the Hal Jordan Green Lantern reboot, except this time with the Flash. The Speed Force has always seemed kind of silly to me, and this didn't change my perspective. Apparently this will lead into DC's big crossover event for the year. Either I'm tired of mega-continuity yankfests or I'm bored with superheroes in general.

Honestly, I was very disappointed with this one. There were a lot of parallels to bringing back Hal Jordan and Barry Allen - purposefully so. But the whole speed force thing was very convoluted in this storyline. For example, first it's thought that Barry Allen is the killer/problem, then it's the speed force itself, then it's ... something else - I don't want to give it away. But I love Johns and aside from some of his Justice Society/League stuff earlier in his career, this is my least favorite. And I love Flash. Van Scriver's art serves the story, but it is never anything that makes you excited or appreciative.

Wow. If this is one of the best Flash stories out there, I'm not sure how many more mainstream comics I'll be reading.

I recently looked up a few best-of lists online and picked up four stories from the library. I had to stop the first before I even got to the halfway point. At least with this one I made it to the end.

In the 20+ years that Flash was gone, the art and writing got somewhat better, but Rebirth still doesn't match some of the comics I've been reading from medium and small comics houses (like Image and Top Shelf). I can see how someone might get into these stories over time, but for someone like me who was never a regular comic reader, read some great stand-alone stories, and finally started looking into the classic Marvel and DC lines, they just don't stand up.

I might give some of these stories a chance if I already know and trust the writer, but otherwise, I'll be steering clear of all them and all their decades of baggage.

This was my very first Flash comic, I can't criticize it too much just for the fact that I didn't read West's flash and some others, but I suppose this was a good chance to start with this great DC character, in this story we see all the other Flash characters and the reverse flash.
