This book really picks up in the last half, which is a good thing because the mystery unravels so slowly. And yet it was so, so satisfying once it did unravel. Sophie was a fantastic audience surrogate, and the couple well-placed twists were icing on the cake. The decision to split the narrative by time and perspective was at times difficult to follow, but in the end Jewell really pulled it off. Excited to read more by this author!

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

Lisa Jewell does it again! At this point this is the FOURTH book I've rated five stars from her, so it's safe to say she rights a wicked thriller.

Tallulah and her boyfriend Zach (who have known each other their entire lives, but their relationship has secretly taken an abusive turn when Zach becomes angry and controlling) go missing, seemingly without a trace and leaving their one-year-old son behind, and a year later new evidence just happens to show up that will crack the case wide open.

I felt like I was RACING through this. The pace moves so quickly it almost made me anxious at times. I read this every chance I could get and truly loved the experience. This will be a winner for most anyone who loves a thriller!

The Night She Disappeared 🏠 Review

“People are easier to deal with if they underestimate you” - Lisa Jewell 😉

⭐️⭐️💫 2.5 Stars

I adored The Family Upstairs so much last month that I was so excited to try this audiobook - I’d heard great things. It had the same great writing and clever use of alternating character/time chapters. 👍🏻

However, for me this felt very safe. It wasn’t bad, if I was new to thrillers it would probably be higher. I just found the plot very predictable and the end convenient. There wasn’t any added flair or twists. 😞

Anyone else? Maybe it was the audiobook? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Very engaging and a thrilling ride! It's been awhile since I had an actual print book I found nearly impossible to put down, but this was one! I found myself wishing I had it on audio when running errands in the car. Some twists I predicted, others not, but the predicted ones were from well-developed foreshadowing from the author, not from stale plot devices. This is my first from this author, and I plan to seek out more.

One of her best books to date, a truly gripping thriller, that had me on the edge of my seat wanting more. Was slightly predictable in places but personally it worked.
