I have read somewhere that this is an introduction book. The two important characters are introduced in this. Well.. that was an heck of an introduction. Lovely to say the least. Loved the Lan character so much...my man is awesome. Looking forward to read the series. I hope it is as good as this book.

New Spring recalls back to the days of old in The Wheel of Time, stylistically feeling much like an earlier book in the series as well as being set in the years proceeding The Eye of the World. While getting a view into Moiraine, Lan, and Suian's lives before the events of the main series was exciting, these characters felt more like the protagonists of the main series, filled with a certain naivety Jordan seems to enjoy writing. New Spring definitely paints a picture of its cast in their youth, not as they are seen in the early books of The Wheel of Time. While I got some answers, this story left me with more questions.

I'd avoided this book thinking it was one of the parts of one of the split books, but it is not. This is a prequel novel, detailing how Moraine met Lan for the most part. It is a good book and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. It is shorter and does not seem as dense as I remember the rest of the Series being. It's a shame that the other two prequels were set aside, except if they had not Mr. Sanderson might not have had the details needed to finish the series. I wonder if this books poor reception was for the same reason that I myself have not read it until now.
