Honestly, the fact that it took me 3 years to finish this series is appalling but hey, I finally did it. And I think I forgot how in love I am with this universe because I devoured this so quickly I'm just sad it's over (I mean it's been a really long time but still upsetting). The lack of Percy and Annabeth was probably the thing I disliked the most about this book, that, and Octavian (God.... I hate his guts).

Nico, Reyna and Leo honestly made this book for me, and especially Nico. His chapters were filled with so much emotional development I loved it so much. And I felt like this was a nice ending to the series but I probably only think that way cause I read The Hidden Oracle before this but still good nonetheless.

I also seriously need to read more Riordan but I have none left so I'm just going to sit here and wait till I can buy some (my own form of masochism.)

I am so sad that I will not be getting any more of Leo. I didn't realize how much I loved his character until this book. He is so full of heart and just an awesome person. He is the odd man out, and I love what Riordan does with this character giving him, in the end, the most important task. Leo, to me, is the heart and soul of this series. Not Percy and Annabeth.

I get so annoyed that people demand more Percy and Annabeth, but this series is not just about them y'all. Percy and Annabeth had a five book series before this in which Percy is the main character. So please stop hating on this book because of that. I loved those characters, but I think Leo just knocked them down a peg.

This book focuses heavily on Reyna, Nico, Jason, Piper, and Leo. I thought that was such a great decision. Most of these characters minus Leo were kind of glanced over throughout the series. I am just so happy that these characters finally got their chance to truly shine. Man, these characters are so good.

Yes, there were some super convenient things that happened plot wise, but overall this was such a great conclusion. Everything to me felt tied up, while still leaving room for more story down the line. The writing was so funny. There were parts that I chuckled so hard.

I will dearly miss this series, but man it was such a fun ride.

This is everything I hoped it would be, and that’s the problem. It didn’t blow me away. In fact, it feels like it needs another draft.

The good is that I get Nico chapters and him and Will Solace are adorable. Leo is fun, Piper and Annabeth and Reyna are all great, but there is something lacking…

It seems that Riordan didn’t have enough time to flesh out his manuscript. Here’s an example, “He kissed her, and...okay, they had kissed before. But this was different. Piper felt like a toaster. All her coils heated to red-hot. Any more warmth and she’d start smelling like burned toast” (495).

Broadly, there are a couple of storylines that don’t map out. Percy’s fatal flaw played a near insignificant role. Frank’s lifeline plot was practically abandoned. I expected to get Piper’s father coming back into the fold, but all I get is a weird mention. Coach Hedge seems to have no character arc at all and comes across as two dimensional. Killing Gaea, the earth itself, is as simple as tossing her into the sky. Coach Hedge’s child, Chuck, seems thrown in at the last minute.

By looking back to the first book, it feels that Riordan lost his main hero, Jason, and did his damndest to bring him back. In the end, Jason becomes a supporting character with not much going for him. Maybe that’s because there are simply too many characters here to juggle around.

But I don’t want to be a downer here. I’m glad I read this series. Nico comes into his own, learning he can fit in. Piper learns to use charmspeak by not telling people what she wants but instead a twisted version of what they want is so devilish I love it. Octavian is a great villain, as are Cupid and Kymopoleia. Frank and Hazel are wondrous characters. Leo is hilarious and his secret crush on Calypso is strange and strangely in character (he is basically a modern day Odysseus). Percy and Jason’s rivalry is amazing. And I love Percy being dense is hilarious. Plus anything with Festus, a mechanical dragon, is good by default.

While I’m not blown away, I am impressed. I might even read the OG Percy Jackson series when I get the time.

Do I even need to say anything?

(The only minus was the fact that there weren't any Percy's or Annabeth's povs)

Adorei quase tudo acerca deste livro!
