This is a difficult book for me to rate. On the one hand, this book inspired me like nothing has in a long time. Tori's creative process and the way she approaches the world both fascinated and inspired me. I've been struggling with my own creativity for a long time and reading this book was exactly what I needed right now. My issue, however, lies in the editing and the way this book was put together. I am very glad I read this book, especially considering I am deeply familiar with the music referenced throughout. I don't know that it would have been as impactful if I wasn't. I loved the mythology behind it and I think there is a lot in this book that speaks to Tori's insight and intelligence. I just wish that the book itself had a better flow and organization; it was disjointed and stilted at times. I could have done without the journalist interjections, as well. Overall, though, it was enjoyable for me and I am glad to have finally picked it up.

This biography is like few you have ever read. It is very intimate and reflective, not only on Amos' life, but also life itself. I would definitely recommend this for fans, but it has value for non-fans as well.

I have loved Tori for my whole life. This book was insightful and interesting but terribly hard to understand. So much so that I had to re-read sections multiple times.

Probably would get 5* if I was more of a fan of her work, this made me want to get as much of her back catalogue as I could and listen to it all. Friends have recommended her but I've resisted to this point and though reading a bit about her might be useful and interesting, and it was. This is the kind of biography where you actually should know more about the music than I did and I would have loved to have had some more pictures, particularly of album covers discussed in the text. Still quite an interesting read, it did speak in particular to the mystical and feminist corners of my brain.
