So I read this series out of order, so even with all the spoilers for Delilah and Claire's relationship, I really liked how it began as a whole. It was cheesy yes, but the romance was very sweet.

The characters were developed nicely, their different problems were well written and are definitely relatable to some readers who have experienced the same things.

I like the fact this series is about women who are in their late twenties, it's a refreshing twist for the romance genre since some of the characters in this series talk about how they still don't know what they're doing with their lives sometimes.

Some problems with this book was the writing for the sex scenes weren't good at all. It does get better with the later books! But this one, made me cringe so much. I'm sorry, who uses "mound" and thinks that's sexy?! And I hate the trope "it was a bet". To start off a romance like that feels very lazy and cheapens the relationship.

Also there was a lack of diversity in this book. Sure there was a lot of good rep for the lgbtq community, but there was nothing else. One very minor black character and that's it. As someone who has now read the books, this does get better, but not by a lot.

Overall this was a good sapphic romance. All of the characters weren't one-dimensional, they all had some depth, the romance was very sweet and it's a good start to the already completed series.

I really just love the whole Bright Falls series since when I first read them as I was self discovering and better understanding myself. I was able to understand the beauty in queerness due to this series so i loved rereading this even if it wasn't as amazing as it was on my first read. All in all I love the charactes and how they carry through the series, very heartwarming.

Delilah is one of the most unlikable characters I’ve read in a while. I am willing to read the next two because I like Astrid and Iris. And hopefully with the little bit of character development we got of Delilah at the end, she won’t be as insufferable in the next two.
