What a great start to an amazing series. I've put off starting this series for far too long. If you haven't attempted to read any of Michael J. Sullivan's work yet, you are sorely missing out on great characters & a superb storyline. Both Hadrian & Royce are very likeable characters that are slightly reminiscent of Farfhd & the Grey Mouser.

Graphic Audio does their usual perfect job of bringing this story to life.

Story and characters all good. Writing could be better. More heart than writing skill. But a LOT of heart.

Found The Crown Conspiracy while browsing several fantasy groups on Goodreads. The cover description piqued my interest. A tale about two thieves who find themselves being blamed for the murder of their king! The beautifully created cover illustration also caught my eye. Both of these factors promised a great read. This fantasy didn’t disappoint!

I enjoyed the interaction between the two main characters of Royce and Hadrian. I particularly liked reading their dialogues. Their easy banter is believable and moves the story along very well, and the reader just knows that these two friends would be willing to do anything for each other. I am looking forward to see how their friendship develops further and what kind of dangerous situations they will find themselves in the upcoming books.

I do hope that some of the other characters introduced in this book will be revisited in the series. How will Prince Alric handle his new role of being the king? Will his sister, Princess Arista, pursue her interest in magic? What role will the wizard play? These are just a few questions that I am left with after finishing this medieval fantasy.

Michael J. Sullivan knows how to make you feel part of the adventure. The good is great and the author does an amazing job with making you believe exactly what he wants.

The book is great for both, those who want to start reading fantasy and those who love the genre. It's a small book in comparison with the rest of the Fantasy books but that doesn't mean it's worst than the rest, it's great.
