I have been reading the series out of order so that definitely impacts my reads of these first four books.  I loved the themes of grief and losing a spouse and how you move on from that. I like Dylan and Apollo well enough but I feel like if you took out the part about losing a spouse, this is fairly identical to the book with Wizard and Isaiah.  That being said, I still wholeheartedly enjoyed every second of this and it made me full on cry at one point.

I always really appreciate Albert's characterization. And how she writes children. The kids did take a bit more of a backseat in this book than I anticipated, but it didn't harm their portrayal. I also always enjoy the little gems of other queer rep in background characters.
