Unraveling a plot while convinced your husband was not unfaithful as evidence points to the contrary

This is only the second Nicci French novel I've read, and like "House of Correction" it is surprising and hard to put down. In "What To Do When Someone Dies" Ellie's beloved husband dies in a cataclysmic car accident with an unknown woman at his side. Ellie refuses to believe that he was having an affair and sets out to prove that.

What makes the story quirky and interesting is that Ellie is a pretty quirky soul herself. If there is anything more she could do to point the finger at herself I can't imagine how she missed it. Her friends try to protect her, but Ellie will not be protected.

Intelligent, brisk and engaging with an unconventional protagonist, this novel is a fine way to spend your reading time.

Thanks to William Morrow and Edelweiss for a DRC of this novel.
