A captivating story touching on a battle over family business succession, racial tension in a poor rural county, family secrets, and land conflict, all with the prohibition war looming as its backdrop. Walls' excellent construction of the main female characters is the most satisfying bit, with their layered and colorful personalities representing women with varying morals from all walks of life. Hang The Moon is a big, scandal-filled tale about large characters in a tough world. Not for everyone, but definitely worth a read.

Hang The Moon is based on real people and real events

This was a character driven story with Sallie Kincaid. Walls made me love Sallie's strong will and creativeness and I felt like I was right there in Virginia back in the 1920's during the Prohibition time.

thank Netgalley and Simon and Schuster for the opportunity to read and review this novel by one of my favorite authors
