I was skeptical of this book and its content when I first read the summary, expecting the same mopey, emo drivel that dominated [b:Twilight|41865|Twilight (Twilight, #1)|Stephenie Meyer|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1361039443s/41865.jpg|3212258]. A zombie falling in love with a human and becoming more alive as a result? Please. But the writing is witty and amusing, and the story ended up delving much deeper than I expected while taking some unexpected turns along the way. R is a fantastic central character and exploring the world he inhabits, especially his regular life at the airport when the book begins, is fascinating and enjoyable. The secondary characters are all well drawn and interesting as well, and I thought it was clever how much of Julie and Perry's relationship and backstory were revealed through flashbacks. I'm surprised that this is the first of a series given the state of the world at the end, but am game for what Marion has in store next.

R is not your regular zombie. He thinks, he cares, he got married, and after eating a young man's brain he falls in love with a living girl. Julie is not sure what to make of the corpse that took her to his home. What happens when they get together?

I am going to start off by saying I HATE zombies. I would never have bought this book if I had not watched the movie first and even that was because I had no options. Yet somehow this story is not about zombies it's about change and life.

I love how Isaac Marion has introduced this world we live in if we had to look at it at the end. How he describes the most basic item as if we have never seen it before or looking at it for the first time in years and it's some new model. The whole narration is done from inside a mind that is trapped and unable to always convey what it wants.

This book is a refreshing read and one I almost can't wait to dive into again. I loved every moment and cannot recommend this book enough.

It was all very new to me and I thoroughly enjoyed reading from R's point of view. The story line was quite predictable, however, it was still a simple and enjoyable read. There were many metaphors and comparisons Marion used which I adored, adding to the imagery, and I will be posting up a video with a review of this novel soon!

Boring, cliche, unrealistic female behaviour. The more I read the more I started to dislike the book. I want more from a story than a bad retelling of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliette. I feel like I kept waiting for things to pick up and they just kept the same boring pace. This book just wasn't for me

Beautiful prose and a completely different way to see zombies.

The book was good for the first feed chapters. It got to the point where I wanted it to be over and I started just skimming the pages. Some dialogue/inner monologues felt unnatural and when it was finally time for the ending it felt rushed and unorderly.

Honestly I saw the movie years ago and loved it, it's one of my favorites. I found out not long after that there was a book, and I was so excited to read the book because if I loved the movie the book was going to be better, the book is always better. Unfortunately in my opinion this is one of the few exceptions, most of the book dragged on lifelessly....no pun intended. It just couldn't hold my attention and took me a rather long time to read. The last thirty or so pages improved greatly and were actually interesting but the book as a whole, not so much. The characters were developed well so that's not what I didn't like. I can't really pin point one thing I didn't like, it just wasn't enough for me, it was missing something that it needed desperately. I heard such good things about this book and was excited to finally read it, it's unfortunate I was extremely disappointed.
