I really enjoyed this for the most parts, I listened to the audiobook so it was nice to hear Stanley Tucci read it.
I think it was definitely very self indulgent, the audiobook is not the best way to listen to all the recipes and sometimes he went on a bit about things that weren’t really important (do we need to know his daily routine during lockdown??) and other times there were little to no details about other parts of his life that would have been so interesting!

stanley tucci is a national treasure! I enjoyed listening to his stories of growing up and his travels, and the passion behind his voice when he speaks about the people he met and the food he’s enjoyed. I could feel his pain when he talked about being diagnosed with oral cancer, and how it severely impacted his sense of self when he lost his ability to taste, and I’m glad to hear that he has recovered.

If you're a fan of food writing and Stanley Tucci, this is worth picking up. I enjoyed listening to him on audio with his deadpan, witty humor as he gave his snobby opinions about food. I didn't have much of a sense of him growing up in Italian cuisine and enjoyed those earlier days. The parts in the middle about restaurants he visited were less interesting to me. The last chapter was a big twist (if you don't know much about his life) and really brought everything in the book together. This book is a celebration of food at all stages of our lives, with plenty of recipes along the way.

Not a bad celebrity memoir, mostly because it was so focused on food. I think some of the chapters could have been re-ordered to form a better narrative, but it was well-written and mouthwatering.
