Listening to the audiobook was delightful but I think an ebook or printed version would have been more useful for the recipes.

This book made me so achingly hungry. At one point near the end of the book, Stanley Tucci just lists off various foods to show his appreciation for them, and let me tell you, it is pure art.
.
I also appreciated the more serious parts of the book, specifically parenting during the pandemic and going through a serious health crisis. He connected his difficult experiences back to an appreciation for what brings him joy in life, and I thought it was rather beautifully done.

This book surprised me however by being filled with some of the most evocative and passionate descriptions of food and cooking I've ever encountered.
There is always something addictive and wonderful to hearing someone speak passionately about something they love but when it's luscious descriptions of food it takes it to qnother level. Halfway through listening to the audiobook I purchased a physical copy. I am still yet to have decided if I'll keep it for me or gift it to my mother.

As a casual fan of Stanley Tucci, I really enjoyed this book. As comes with the territory, he is a wonderful story-teller. His voice through the page is inviting and warm while keeping hold of the brilliance and wit we regularly see on screen. With that larger-than-life silver screen presence, this book brings Tucci back into the realm of reality—a man who loves his family, loves food, and connects with those in his life in the kitchen or at the table.
I thought the short chapter discussing both COVID and his and his late wife's cancer battles were among the more poignant elements, while the tongue-in-cheek name dropping keeps the book flowing like a good wine. As the by-line suggests, Tucci weaves his life story around and throughout food. It is a common element in all our lives, though with significantly less flair than the Tucci table, I'd wager. His story is relatable, though—family meals, trials of life, joys of parenting, the taxation of both work and illness. Tucci is more real through the words on this page than he has been ever on screen, and his passion for food and the art he finds in making and sharing a meal really shines through.
If you like Stanley Tucci the actor, I highly recommend Stanley Tucci the author and chef.
