The Snow Queen is a sweet, magical fairy tale about two children, Kai and Gerda, and the journey Gerda makes in order to save Kai, who has been taken by the Snow Queen. I flew through this quickly, under an hour, and its simple but timeless story was just the break I needed away from longer novels. The illustrations are a nice addition to the story. It's been a long time since I've cracked open an Andersen fairy tale, or any childhood stories for that matter, and The Snow Queen brings back the memories and nostalgia.

I received this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Un cuento fantástico de Andersen con descripciones brillantes y evocadoras en escenarios muy bien imaginados y una trama más optimista de lo habitual en él.

This is the first time I have read this story. It is a story of good and evil. It is the story of Gerda and Kay. Kay disappears one day and Gerda sets out to find her friend. She goes on an adventure and meets interesting characters along the way.

Got free on Audible.
Fanciful (religious) parable of two small children.
Didn't know there was a correlation between it and the Disney movie Frozen until I read the reviews.

As with most fairy tales, the mores are highly suspect for a modern audience.

But in the audible version, the narration by Julia Whelan is an absolutely world-class 5 stars.
