I really enjoyed the unreliable narrator — while the beginning was a bit slow, once I picked it back up again I was hooked and read the rest in one night.

A solid 3 stars. It was a quick read once I got into it. I liked the characters, the perspective, and the fact that it kept you guessing. I thought it was a unique perspective on mental illness. It did feel more like a YA book than not, but overall I enjoyed it.

Wow, I feel like I can't give this book the review that deserves without spoiling it, so I will be only doing a surface review sadly(my main thoughts, trigger warnings, and content warnings).

"Of course, the other patients are here because there’s actually something wrong with them. I’m only here because of a misunderstanding, so there’s no need for me to panic."

I enjoyed this book so much, I loved how accurate it was and how you could tell that the writer has done her research. (Except when Hannah states that humans use only 10% of our brains when we actually use 100% and that idea is only perpetuated by Hollywood movies as a novelty).

I would recommend it to older teens only because of some of the themes, I don't think it would be /great/ for a younger audience.

Content:

-Some mild descriptions of violence or injury.

-Since Hannah has been institutionalized there are mentions of EDs and overdoses with the other clients, as well as Hannah describing the precautions the center takes so the patients can't harm themselves.

-Brief mentions of hooking up, nothing detailed thankfully.

-Flashbacks of kissing, also not very detailed.

Trigger warnings (contain spoilers):
Spoilerbulimia, anorexia, self-harm, mood disorders, and medication.

Other than that, I did enjoy this book and I love the way it handles difficult matters such as mental illness!

This was a really good exploration of one girls mental health. You follow Hannah after her friend fell out of a window. Hannah thinks it's a mistake that she has been hospitalized for her mental health. I didn't quite connect to it as much as I would have liked to. With that being said it was good, I love books in which you follow an unreliable narrator.
