I should have DNF’d this, but the final 1/4 of the book hooked me, and the audiobook narration was decent. Otherwise, what a major letdown.

This book is weird and the Ending was so bizarr. I mean this in a good way. It was like watching a tv show, reading this book.

god remy was insufferable and it was so incredibly frustrating to see a clearly unhappy relationship on its last leg bound together by a parasocial obsession that governed over so much of their individual/joint lives. it was grueling to see the way alicia was constantly vying for approval to the point of letting herself get walked on 90% of the time and remy continuously undermining her... which kept the toxic cycle spinning 😭

this honestly would've gotten a higher rating if i didn't know it was gonna be crazy after part 3 and if that was sprung on me instead (sure most of the book felt *uncomfortable* but not crazy). that one's on me though lmao! i must say alicia's transition from her pretending to believing she's jen starting with the earrings going into part 3 was so genius. was a great tonal shift, you could tell something was different. made it creepy and even more mysterious.

pretty surreal batshit insane book and i liked the delivery. it never felt like it was trying to be *too* modern despite social media and millenials being a huge part of the premise (+ wasn't cringey. the dialogue was so good). i sped through this pretty fast, was eager to keep reading and i liked the way it ended. i'm kind of deeply amazed by how everything came together and the author's mind for even conceptualizing something like this lol.

This is a book for weird little freaks. I LOVED it. I recommend to anyone who fucked with the movie Sorry To Bother You. So weird, uncomfortable, and funny. I am dying to see this as a movie and/or graphic novel!!
