I read it after watching the show
I think having read this first, I’d possibly be annoyed at the author’s honest obsession with talking about all the sex Villanelle gets up to. However, having watched the TV show first and therefore Jodie Comer’s excellent performance permeating through how I read Villanelle, I was willing to put up with that. I do dislike when men fetishise women and sex and what turns them on. The rest of it was pretty good! Enjoyed seeing parallels between the book and what they took into the show. Enjoyed the back and forth between the two London intelligence bodies either side of the river; there’s the same suggestions in John ale Carré’s The Night Manager and makes me think.. is it really like that!? I even learned a few new words.

I don’t know why I continue to put my trust in men who write women characters…… shame on me

I picked this up after watching the first two seasons of the show, and I was very disappointed. the characters are much less interesting, there's no humour, it's a little strangely structured, just all around boring.
I was willing to push through the boringness, but not making Villanelle a rapist. there's no reason for her to be talking about the "seductive power" of a 9mm. there's no reason for her to force herself on a woman.
I get that she's a murderer, but in the show she has a lot of charm, you root for her. this book makes her boring AND unlikeable.
