I’m torn on this one. On one hand, I thought it was well written and I enjoyed bouncing between perspectives. On the other hand, it felt a bit hollow. We don’t spend enough time with any character to really get to know them, and the central romance feels very under developed. Also, the mother is cartoonishly horrible, but learns nothing. Everyone is just like ‘oh that’s just mummy, having a tantrum and ruining everyone’s lives.’ The central conflict of the book is also conveniently resolved through no action of any of the MCs, so I kept wondering how the book would have ended if things didn’t perfectly fall into place.
Finally, I don’t know if I was supposed to, but I have no sympathy for rich people losing their money. Like ‘oh no I bought an ice sculpture castle for my daughter’s wedding and now we’re broke.’ Even Eden was hard to relate to because she still lived an extremely privileged life.
