This book has been sitting on my shelf for quite some time now but finally decided to pick it up and OMG IT’S ACTUALLY SOOO ENTERTAINING AND INFORMATIVE. I love how everything is told like a story and how concise the book is. Even though it’s packed with information (as it should be), it was still delivered in a fun way and I found myself getting excited to know more about history. Highly recommend this!

It feels like your grandfather is telling you a story and calls it the history of the world.
Thank you, E.H. Gombrich.

This book was an informative journey through world history from a Eurocentric lens (and is thus to be taken with a grain of salt). It provides a flyby overview of empires throughout the ages accompanied by notable leaders. The narrative voice is conversational and pedagogical though not condescending while the content is information-heavy and fluff-light.

Enjoyable but should be called a little history of Europe!

I listened to the audiobook, and this is a really cute one to listen to. The reader is a British voice actor, so it kinda feels like your old English grampa telling you stories. You can tell it's meant for children, but it's not patronizing. It's charming, eloquent, and interesting.
That said, apparently "the world" in A Little History of the World doesn't include South America, Australia, or Sub-Saharan Africa, like at all ever not once.
