Grishaverse might be my favourite bookish universe at the moment (just binge watched the show last night and absolutely loved it!) and I was really excited about this book. I don't like the Shadow and Bone trilogy that much, but SoC and KoS are amazing.

Anyway, I think that Rule of Wolves tried to do a bit too much. There was too much happening and the pacing was a bit off. For example, one of the main characters got badly injured, but then it was like never addressed again? And then one character sorta goes missing and then we're already having a funeral for them? I was so sure I missed a couple of pages, because there was no scene for finding the body/the character actually dying. And there's a war going on more or less constantly, and yet there was like 300 paged between the battles... I've always been a fan of multiple POV books, but in this one I feel like they did the story more harm than good. I feel bad for saying this, but I really did not care about Mayu's POV, although it's great that Leigh is expanding the Grishaverse with more information about the Shu-Han.

And honestly, I'm a bit over the main villain. Didn't we deal with this already? And also, I refuse to give this 5 stars just because of the Apparat. Please kill him off as soon as possible.

But I really loved it. There are wonderful crossovers with SoC characters, Zoya is an absolute badass and Nikolai has my whole heart. Honestly I'd read anything as long as he is in it.

I loved reading Zoya's perspective! Curious to see if there will be a next book.
