I really like this book and the twist at the end was really good but I prefer one of us is lying.

I made the mistake of starting this book at around nine in the evening and it kept me up all night.Literally. I couldn't put it down and just go to sleep I had to get to the bottom and discover who the serial killer/criminal was. At every chapter a new suspect was put on the list then taken off and by the time I am told who the real killer is in the story I can say for sure it came as a surprise and that really they were signs but it was hard to piece them together.
It was sad that none of my suspects were those but that I can say there was a few people who helped the MO without meaning to.Can't really say more without being a spoiler ,it is a mystery crime novel after all *wink*. well, what are you waiting for Go read!!!NOW

This was a solid 3 stars. It defiantly wasn't terrible, but it wasn't the beset or most suspenseful/surprising YA mystery I've read. The writing was good, I have no complaints about it. The main reason I didn't love this was because I predicted the ending from the very beginning. It was just too predictable. It didn't feel suspenseful at all, and the climax felt rushed, and it was all over really quick. However, I've definitely read other YA thrillers that I've disliked a lot more.

”Welcome to life in a small town. You’re only as good as the best thing your family’s done. Or the worst.”

In Echo Ridge, its safest to keep your secrets to yourself. When Ellery ends up in the town where her aunt went missing, a homecoming queen was murdered and everyone is hiding something, someone decides this year is going to be more murderous than before.

When another girl goes missing not long after Ellery moves to Echo Ridge, she becomes centre of attention, and with that, comes danger. The secrets every has been holding are slowly working them way out, with Ellery at the centre of the discoveries. As a self proclaimed fan of true crime, Ellery is invested in whatever Echo Ridge is hiding behind its perfect town appearance.

With weird threats and the missing girls, this book is creepy; I felt like I was playing detective alongside Ellery trying to piece the mystery together. That is something this book does both well and not so well. As a reader I want to see if I can figure out the ending for myself, and while the book kept the important details at the front of my mind, I felt like this ruined it a little bit for me. I guessed the ending, whereas I really love a book where I could go back afterwards and realise all the little things I missed! However, it was still enjoyable and I liked the small town, everyone knows everyone feel this book gave me.

Unlike a lot of YA thrillers, this book dived in straight away and it was face paced and exciting. The characters were okay, but past Ellery I didn’t feel like I knew much more about the character than how they related to the plot.

Echo Ridge has lots of secrets. Ellery and Malcom are both tied to those secrets in different circumstances, but nevertheless, those circumstances bring them together as they start helping to uncover hidden truths in a troubled town. Will history repeat itself? Will the perpetrator get caught?

I was gripped from the start, the plot keeps you guessing with a twist at the end that no one will expect - at least I didn't, despite tying up most of the clues and guessing some correct answers.

Really enjoyed the book and struggled to put it down. Definitely recommend!
