I have so many mixed feelings about this book. I don’t know really if I wish the series had remained a trilogy because to be honest, I just never felt for it in the first place. It was always just an average read for me from the very first book. It was easy reading but not unique or interesting in a way that had me hooked.

Pros:

I did like the characters and I still absolutely adore Warner and Juliette’s romance. Their chemistry is wonderful. These books 100% made me ship them more than I did in the first three books. If their romance wasn’t as good as it was, these three books would’ve been completely useless. Kenji is a hilarious character and I love his relatability. Ignite Me (the third book) ended in a way that left a lot of potential problems and these next three books fixed them. In a way, these books were necessary to keep from making it a fake happily ever after. Over the course of the next few books, it’s made for a more powerful villain. Restore Me was also my least favorite book in the series. This one isn’t as bad.

Cons:

Unless you truly loved this series and wanted more Warner and Juliette, I wouldn’t recommend reading these books. I only read it because I didn’t want to leave the series unfinished. It doesn’t exactly ruin anything for me but it just feels very meh. I’m not sure if the “final battles” in Ignite Me and this book felt like they were on the same level. I’m not sure if this one felt bigger even though it should have clearly felt bigger. There are some things that happen that I’m just so disgusted about.

This book:

It started off really quickly and sometimes was too fast paced to keep up. You needed explanations which were given later. It felt like Warner’s character development regressed but maybe it’s not so bad when you think about how hard it is to unlearn the things he was taught. I still love this though. There were so many things I wasn’t happy about in this book. The book has many similarities to Mockingjay and I don’t know if that’s good or bad. Finally, the ending wasn’t too bad. It was sentimental and I liked having and epilogue.
