Amelia is the rich over achiever who believes people at school like her because of what her dad can do for them. Her twin is the life of the party and always happy.
Bash has lost his mother and is trying to finish high school whole raising his little brother.
Amelia and Bash were adorable. They built a friendship before it moved into something else and then the big twist throws everything out of whack.
There are big issues that these teens face. They lose big, mess up, get hurt, and try to figure out how to go on.
The writing is really good and the story was unexpected.

I really enjoyed this book! It was so raw. I honestly didn't expect this book to be so deep and meaningful. This book was beautifully written and had a flow to it that I really enjoyed. It took me on a journey with the characters that felt realistic. I love to read book where I feel as if I have learned to look at things in a different way and this book did that for me. I highly recommend it!!!

Downloaded this book off my kindle on a whim. I expected it to be a nice, lighthearted read to finish off 2015, but boy was I surprised in the best way possible. I smiled, I laughed, I teared up, ...I felt all the feels that can be felt. And also acquired a severe craving for Red Vines; so thanks Amelia. I would've given this book 5 stars...but the ending felt unresolved in places & more importantly I wanted more time w/ these adorable characters.

Both of these authors are massively underrated! I went into this not knowing much about it and I definitely think that was a good thing. Not knowing what to expect made me feel so much more for the main characters.

It's not the fluffy contemporary I thought it was going to be and dealt with grief and loss in a pretty realistic way. I loved Amelia and Bash separately and I loved them together. I teared up at certain parts and that's usually when I know I'll be giving a book 5 stars - when it actually makes my heart hurt for the characters.

Now I really need to read more from both of these authors! Would recommend to anyone who enjoys ya contemporaries.

I mean I 100% cannot wait for this to be released!!!! These two ladies are geniuses together and apart. One of my highly anticipated books now.

Okay, I've finished this book and all I have have to say is WOW. Erica and Autumn are an epic paring. I loved when they joined forces for Steering the Stars, but they blew me out of the water together with The Bright Effect. Anyone who knows me knows how much I love/need spoilers in my life. I go to the ends of the earth searching for them (I have been know. To google translate reviews and webpages jut to see if they contain a spoiler). As a beta reader on this one, there were NO spoilers to be found and guys, it HAS to be that way.

Remember the book We Were Liars and how the back basically said not to spoil the book and to lie to everyone about it. This needs to be exactly like that. This book needs to be just dived into blindly. Trust this spoiler addict on that point.

As always, the love story is so sweet. It's about Amelia Bright, who is such a sweet driven girl who has the whole world ahead of her. It's also about Sebastian Holbrook, who is now definitely my favorite book boyfriend. He is the most caring, patient, and selfless man I've read so far. This book is set in their senior year as they both are preparing for college and life after high school. They both come from two vastly different worlds and come together and make a story that's magic.

I cannot give Erica or Autumn praise enough for this book. They took my breath away, made me experience emotions that I didn't even know I had and make my heart ache then repaired it. These women are phenomenal.

Please read the book. And then please message me when you're done so I have someone to talk about this book with. I need to talk about it with someone.

Until next time Erica and Autumn. You ladies AMAZE ME!

(I was provided a Beta copy from Autumn for a totally honest and unbiased review and you know, beta stuff--this is totally my real life fangirling of this book and these ladies)

I'm not as familiar with Erica Cope's work, other than her two books with Autumn Doughton, but this was my favourite of Doughton's books. I loved In This Moment, and this book reminded me of that one, with its heart and heartbreakingly beautiful and real characters. I fell in love and was devastated and ended it feeling hopeful. It was a remarkable book. Doughton and Cope write YA with the best of them. Highly recommend this one.

Wow. As I write this through tears of sadness, joy, and hope, I find myself craving Red Vines (which I normally despise), a crazy comfy pair of leggings, and a copy of Neil Gaiman's Fragile Things. Bash and Amelia (along with Daphne, Carter, Seth, and Audra) grabbed my heart from the beginning and never let go. Their story is raw and emotional, but also sweet and funny and, most importantly, real. That's a hard combination to pull off successfully as an author, but this wonder duo killed it once again. I can't wait to see what they have in store for us next!

I absolutely loved this book. Seriously
I have never read a book by Autumn Doughton and not liked it. She is an amazing writer. This story was so well written and the twist completely surprised me. I have been in a reading slump and not really connecting to the characters or their story and this book got me out of it. I cried my eyes out and struggled with the characters. Ugh this story tore my heart out.

Holy smokes. This book...I bought the ebook on a whim because the cover was cool and it was a good price. I had no idea it was going to be so amazing. I didn't expect it to be so heart wrenching and deep, but it was! For two straight days, I only put it down when I had to go to work and take care of my kid.

Amelia and Bash are both dynamic characters, and even the side characters have their own distinct personalities (I especially loved Audra and Seth). I enjoyed reading the whole book with a southern accent in my head and liked the South Carolina setting, even though I've never been there. I wasn't expecting one huge moment in the story, and I almost put the book down because I sensed things going away from my preferred happy ever after ending, but I'm so glad I stuck with it; the payoff was well worth the tears! While I want more of Bash & Amelia's story, the ending is perfect.

Can we have a book about Seth now?! Highly recommended if you like a deeper kind of romance novel that's more than just fluff, cuz this book has it all!
