I would have given this book beyond 5 stars if I could. I am so glad Jennette was able to leave acting and pursue her writing career, and share her story which I hope played a huge part into her recovery from such extreme trauma. I also am so grateful to her for this because of how many people may have been aided in their own recovery by relating to different aspects of Jennette’s story at any level- it definitely has impacted me in ways I never would have expected. There are just so many things that typically go unspoken out of shame or taboo, brushed off, not recognized as abuse, etc. but Jennette does not hold back. I have no doubt this book has saved lives.

I have NEVER started and finished a book in the same day until today.
Jennette's story is so compelling, so dark, so sad, and so hopeful that I simply couldn't put it down.

The frank, vulnerable tone of it all is incredibly powerful but also devastating. With that in mind, I recommend paying extra attention to content warnings to read safely and with care.

I love the title. It’s attention grabbing and honestly if you have an abusive parent you can possibly relate.

Jenette does not spare any of gory details about her abusive childhood, eating disorder, OCD, trauma, and relationships. She’s witty and honest.

I liked hearing about her friendship with Miranda.

Alyson Stoner has also talked about the dark side of the child acting industry as well if anyone else is curious.
