Note: I just read "The Yellow Wallpaper" from this collection, and I really loved this Gothic masterpiece! As short as it was, the plot really had me enthralled and I think the power dynamics and significance of the "pattern" here are really important to explore.

An appropriately creepy story which- in my mind - well illustrates one example of the downward-spiral a woman can take when suffering postpartum depression.
It also shows how easily the condition can be dismissed by family and friends, and how in the not-too-distant past the women were shut away to 'keep them safe'.

Herland is great. But The Yellow Wallpaper will never be it for me.

The title story is alluring and fascinating. The rest are rather dull and have an ideological axe to grind that diminishes their effectiveness as stories.

"The Yellow Wallpaper" is a classic, quirky and thought-provoking.
The rest of the stories have a theme of strong women who are better off not conforming to man's or society's expectations of who they should be. You are great as you are.
I liked the different ways the theme came through in the stories.

The yellow wallpaper was good but it was only 24 pages long. Herland is the other book and it's SO BORING. plus in this political climate, I'm just not in the mood for a story about misogynistic men. It's too depressing that the stuff Gilman is writing about in the GD 1890s is still relevant today.
