Don't sleep on Sabrina - this romance was sweet and beautifully written.

After I read Eliza's story, I needed to go back and read Diane's story - I was not disappointed in this love story.

I am a Sabrina fan and will add her to my auto-buy list from here on out

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC of A Duke for Diana in return for a fair and honest review. There's a lot to love in this book - strong female characters, an enormous hulking main male love interest, and amazing historical information. I'd like to absolutely tip my hat to Sabrina Jeffries for doing such obvious and amazing research. Most of these books contain things most of us know, the vouchers for Almacks for example, or a bit of text about frothy gowns. This one though went into amazing detail about chalking and exact stitches, and detailed fashion. For example, Jeffries actually went into detail about court fashion, something that isn't often done! or when it is done, isn't done correctly - because they were having to try and balance the new, empire fashion with the court's insistance on a hoop skirt. The romance was very fast though. I would have liked a bit more bickering before they kissed, really let that tension bubble. Her mouth was then described as 'wet' later on, which made me full-body shudder. The smutty scenes were short, which isn't a bad thing always; but it did lead to me having to re-read one because of the vagueness because she was a virgin and surely they didn't just...without no preparation... I'm still not certain, it was written very vaguely. Speaking of virginity though - he lost his at 14 to a full-blown widow. I could have done without that knowledge, made me very uncomfortable. I don't love statutory rape in my romances, and I've never met a 14 year old that wasn't horrifically 14. It's also worth mentioning that this is unfortunately the second historical ARC I've read this month with a sibling who runs to Gretna Green and has to be stopped my the main characters, alone in a carriage - against all rules...so...there's that

Disgraced by her mother and father Diana didn’t know what to do with her life. Verity her close friend tried helping her, Until him; Geoffrey was so romantic and caring over Diana. This was a wonderful romantic story that I cozied up to. I found the story whimsical and enchanting. I liked that the book was a fast page turner. The writer filled the story with clear and simple narrative and dialogue. I always believe that this makes the book move faster.

4– read via Amazon Prime. Would I reread it? Maybe. Definitely more of a modern feel than it should’ve been for that time period, a little more angst than I prefer, but on the whole it was enjoyable. Trigger warning: suicide and depression.

Not one of Jeffries’ best. Good concept, fun but unremarkable delivery.

First of all, I must confess that I read this out of order (after the second book of the series), but each book makes for a good standalone, so it wasn’t a problem. And I loved this book as much as the other one, if not even more!. I particularly loved the relationship between the sisters, because they are very different, but they love and respect each other and their mutual differences. And I found the insights on preparing a girl’s debut very interesting, especially all the fashion details and the food!
I adored the hero, an accidental duke with a profession who understands the value of money and occasionally blunders in Society. And Diana is a force of nature, smart and strong and passionate. Their chemistry is over the top and their banter conveys all their feelings for each other. The writing is perfection and I even cried at the end (oh my, that letter!) because everything felt so real! I can’t wait for Verity’s book, because this Phantom Fellow who follows her everywhere is really, really intriguing…
Finally, I can’t recommend the audiobook enough! The narrator is so very very good!

Thank you to Net Galley for the advanced copy of this book. This is the first book in a new series and I am already looking forward to more. I love the premise behind this book that three sisters through no fault of their own were ostrasized from the elite and decided to turn their knowledge into something useful. Not often you read about enterprising women start their own business in those days and making a success of it as well. I loved the chemistry between the three sisters, able to poke fun at one another, share inside jokes and at the same time totally have each other's backs. I also loved the dynamic between Geoffrey and Diana. Their push and pull with each other was entertaining throughout the book. I also enjoyed how Geoffrey had to learn how to navigate being part of the peerage having not grown up that way. This book was an entertaining read from start to finish for those who love historical romances and as I said above I am looking very forward to reading book 2 when it is released.
