Really cute YA story. Didn’t realize it was YA when I bought it and that wasn’t what I was looking for, but if you are - I would recommend it!

FCK DO I LOVE MEN AND LOVE WRITTEN BY WOMEN.
This was very much an easy and comfort read. Full of jokes and love all throughout the story. Especially when Meredith talked about Claire. Sister love. The whole family is beautiful, the characters are so lovely.
Short chapter that are not at all complicated with an easy to follow family tree.
My only critique is that Meredith and Stephen were quite cringey at times, but overall still a nice couple.

It is a good book, easy to read and fresh, perfect for summer. After a complex reading, I like to read something like this. I liked the characters and the Taylor’s references. I think it’s good, but nothing out of this world or unforgettable

Przed nami historia dziewczyny, która po śmierci siostry odsuwa się od najbliższych. Trochę czasu zajmuje jej trwanie w stanie żałoby; półtora roku później wraz z rodzicami wybiera się na tradycyjny rodzinny zjazd, który teraz jest połączony ze ślubem jej kuzynki. Rodzinny spęd jest okazją do wskrzeszenia gry, w której siostra Meredith była mistrzynią. Dziewczyna bierze sobie to do serca i chce uczcić jej pamięć zwycięstwem. Po drodze będzie jednak parę wybojów, gdyż nasza bohaterka zawrze parę sojuszy, które delikatnie mówiąc, ze sobą kolidują.
„Lato złamanych zasad” jest reklamowane jako must have dla fanów Taylor Swift, bo twórczość piosenkarki była inspiracją do napisania tej książki, przez co znajdziemy w niej kilka smaczków.
Historia jest idealna na lato, więc właśnie teraz jest idealny moment, byście po nią sięgnęli. Całość mi się podobała, jednak czegoś mi brakowało. I było parę rzeczy, do których musiałam się przyczepić. Głównie raziło mnie to, że uczucie przedstawione w książce było przedstawione w sposób, jakby nasi bohaterowie znali się prawie sto lat, a ich znajomość trwała tydzień. I o ile jestem w stanie zrozumieć, że połączyło ich właśnie TO silne uczucie, tak wciąż nie jestem przekonana do tego w stu procentach.
Problematyczna była też dla mnie Meredith, której szczerze mówiąc, nie polubiłam. W jej postaci było coś, co mnie drażniło. Nie zrozumcie mnie źle, wiem, że straciła siostrę, która była też jej przyjaciółką. Że ta cała sytuacja jest dla niej trudna, jednak w tym wszystkim odnosiłam wrażenie, że Meredith koncentrowała się tylko na sobie. Nie myślała o tym, że jej rodzice stracili córkę, jej kuzynka najlepszą przyjaciółkę itd. Meredith zamknęła się w swojej bańce, do której nie dopuściła nikogo, jednocześnie nie dostrzegając, że śmierć Claire dotknęła także innych.
Podobało mi się z kolei to, jak została przedstawiona relacja rodzinna. To, jak bohaterowie byli ze sobą zżyci i jak ze sobą funkcjonowali.
Należy też wspomnieć o rodzinnej tradycji, czyli grze w Zabójcę, bo została opisana w taki sposób, że aż samemu chciałoby się w niej wziąć udział.
I chociaż Meredith mnie do siebie nie przekonała, tak polubiłam naszego tajemniczego Wita.
„Lato złamanych zasad” pokazuje nam, że czasem wystarczy jeden bodziec, który wzbudzi w nas coś, co myśleliśmy, że w nas już umarło.
Książkę czyta się bardzo szybko i dodatkowym urozmaiceniem jest szukanie wszystkich nawiązań do twórczości Taylor.

A really well crafted story of love, loss, and family, all wrapped up in a fun, beachy, summer read.

Meredith and Wit are perfectly matched - as Claire knew they would be - but the story is so much more than their love story. Meredith grows into herself and begins to unravel who she is without Claire.

You'll come for the beachiness and love, but you'll stay for the deep familial bonds that'll have you reaching for your phone to call your own sister (probably to tell her to add this one to her tbr pile)!

So addicting. I absolutely loved it. Although, at times Meredith made me mad.

It was also extremely emotional when her sister’s death was mentioned.
