The Good Doctor is a book that does what Doctor Who does best, a fun adventure on a silly Science-Fantasy planet filled with VERY unsubtle political themes.

It's not a complex story, but it's a very fun little adventure that takes advantage of the time travel element to tell a story about racism and historical revisionism.

The author captures the essence of the characters perfectly, Thirteen and her companions all feel very authentic. Doctor who books often feel quite different from the show, but this honestly feels like a novelisation for an episode that doesn't exist.

Plus it's a story where Bradley Walsh becomes Space Christ, I have to give it atleast 4 stars for that alone.

Fantastic story. I listened to the audiobook version, since I’ve been reading and studying a lot and wanted to give my eyes a break. The narrator does an eerily good impression of the Doctor and Yaz. For a moment I wondered if they’d actually gotten the actors to play them.

I loved the story. The parallels between the people who worship the Good Doctor in the story and Christians IRL are (I feel) fantastically spot on. It’s certainly not subtle about the comparison.

Enjoyable with an interesting message of how our actions can have massive impacts and following blindly never goes well

4.25 ⭐️ this was amazing. A really quite philosophical discussion of history being misconstrued into religion because of lack of sources and aided my racist and misogynistic leaders, as Graham is mistaken for the Doctor and worshipped like a god, though it is of course limited in 230 pages and cringey 2018 slang. Would have been a fantastic episode and a maybe too powerful one since people rioted at just the idea of a female doctor irl. Some great meta humour in there also. The epilogue was just right. I'm pretty sure Ryan still didn't get his phone back by the end of the story though, since that was the whole reason for the plot 😂

I really wish I could read every book I pick up in one sitting like I did with the Good Doctor because it makes the stories so much better! Even if I hadn't read this in one sitting though I would've loved it. This novel tied in really well with the last episode of Doctor Who & has really helped to build up the character arcs of 13 & her companions. I massively recommend this.

I loved this book! Fantastic Thirteen story. Came to this after Redacted and definitely going to be checking out Juno Dawson's other works.
