This was a very cool reimagining/retelling of Hindu mythology intertwined with the story of a boy’s journey toward self discovery and queer identity in Canada. Chapters flit from the POV of deities back and forth with the human protagonist. The writing was radiant, explorative, and honest.

Autobiography interspersed with hindu mythology.
Hindu mythology interspersed with autobiography.
Genesis. Queerness. Sexual identity. Gender identity.

This was everything. I am definitely in love with Vivek Shraya's writing.

This is an illustrated novel by the author of "God Loves Hair", a Lambda Literary Award finalist. After recently becoming aquainted with graphic novels, it's easy to imagine how much the illustrations will add to the narrative.
A physical book might also make it easier to know when the switch is made from one story to the next. Yet even with this slight issue, it was easy to follow the lyrical story.
