This book isn't aimed at my age group audience. I imagine if I had gone through what she does at her age I would have more sympathy but I just can't connect with her. I don't believe that is a book shortcoming but rather mine.

A good read

I really enjoyed this book. There were times the dialogue felt contrived and there was a certain predictability to Kat's path, but still enjoyable and good story for me at this time in my own life.

Not a favorite. This may have to do more with the narrator than anything but the book as a whole was slow and book-ish

I found this book to be sweet and a nice story of a middle-age woman finding herself after a traumatic issue in her marriage. The main character, as a person, was quite boring to me and I genuinely didn't care for her friend from work, but fortunately the story was interesting and I loved reading about the adventures in France. Overall, a good read that I'm glad I read.

I wanted to like this book more than I did. The parts about Provence were actually quite good. It was the distracting side plots that were frustrating for me. There were several that were unnecessary and went nowhere. Editing out a third of this book would have made it much better.

I just want you guys to know that I read this, fully, because I was SO AMAZED that a book could be SO BORING! Amazon opened up their prime subscribers library recently so I poked around and found a book to read in about thirty seconds--"romance," "france," sounds good. OH MY GOD YOU GUYS, the most boring! Not really a romance novel with a plot so much as a book to make middle aged ladies want to go to France. Like a travel advertisement. It explained a lot when I got to the end and the author's note revealed that she'd planned this to be a standalone but based on response was now going to turn it into a trilogy. Oh my GOD!! I know I know much more talented writers who haven't gotten a book deal and it's because of ding dongs like this lady. I'm sorry some dumb publisher stumbled into an online writers' group and decided to print this instead of your much better thought out, planned, book.

I didn't know a lot about this novel when I purchased it, but I was tempted to read it because one of my Goodreads friends had it on her list and because anything with 'Provence' in it always sounds interesting.

Basically, it's about a 50-something woman whose husband abruptly asks for a divorce. On the urging of friends, she takes a solo trip to France and, of course, falls in the love with it while regaining her confidence.

It took about 100 pages before she ever made it to France and the story before then was just a bit tedious. In my opinion, this book could have used some more editing because I found it a little repetitive and wordy. While the author was very descriptive of all the senses, it was just too much. I found myself speed-reading through the last hundred pages because I was ready for the story to end.

Loved the story, but I don't speak French!

It's kinda rude to have a character speak a language and make your reader stop to find the translation, imho. Other than that, I loved this book!
