It's a nice dark, why-choose romance that takes itself seriously, with pretty good writing and while the end felt a bit rushed, it was a rather good experience over all.
Characters aren't phenomenally lovely, nor a lot to write home about, but they're alright to keep up with and the plot isn't overly taxing. Good stuff.

Doing as she is told, she shows up at the Black residence and meets the brooding and void Black men (Silas, Baron and Gabriel). Iris is determined to get revenge on the Marettis for taking her father's life, but she needs the help of these three men.
Iris has little to offer but herself. As she weaves her way into their lives, they start to feel things for one another and that could be dangerous too!
I gasped and giggled and clenched and loved this story.

Although I do find Iris to be very annoying with how nosy she is in wanting to know about everything, especially in the beginning.
And our men are definitely broken, and this was the first time that I ever read a H being the virgin.
But what he was competing against is kind of crazy.
Also Barons problem with Gabriel needs to be talked about with them more but I’m hoping that the next book will be that.
Although I do think that there is a hint of another character coming in, and I think I know who that character is!

summary:
the book starts off with iris and a body guard talking as they're beginning to have sex. she lets us know that her dad has recently been keeping her in the house on lockdown, but she doesn't know why. as they're about to start doing the deed, the body guard is shot in the back. iris is found by her father, where he begins trying to flee. right as they make it to the garage, iris' dad is shot. his last words are to find silas black. after iris flees, she makes her way to silas' house for refuge. their she's introduced to gabriel (silas' adopted son) and baron (silas' biological son) before being introduced to silas himself. he agrees to let her stay for a month to get back on her feet, but she wants more: revenge. through some trials and tribulations, iris ends up staying longer (later, for good) and makes a lot of changes in the house.
my thoughts:
i feel like i always start off reviews by saying, "it was good." which is always true, and i'm not good with words. again, the same could be said for this book. i thought the beginning was explosive, but it quickly flatlined. it wasn't that it lost its pace, but the plot just seemed to plateau pretty quickly. it eventually picked up again towards the end, but just barely. i liked that it was a quick read, but i could've used a bit more plot development before iris jumped into the sex. and don't get me wrong, that's what i read these books for, but i also like plot. i did like the character development of all of the guys though. character development is key to whether i'll like something or not. and again, we had the reverse harem trio: strongest connection guy, comedic relief/the quickest to fall for the girl, and the "i hate you, but that'll turn around at some point". 3 stars from me, dudes!
