Everyone needs someone like Arthur Truluv in their life! . This trio are all on different walks of life and though they come together under strained circumstances it all makes sense. Family isn't just blood its what you make it and the people who are there for you when you need them the most. Arthur, Maddy and Lucille sucked me into their unconventional family and didn’t let me go until the very end. I love them separately and all together. They each learned from each other and I loved the support they gave each other and how they accepted one another quirks and all. I honestly can’t even write a review to give this book justice. I loved the characters, the message and the overall feeling after I finished reading this story. I’ve never read or heard of this author before until now and she has managed to suck me in with her way of words. This story tugged at my heartstrings and I had tears in my eyes when I finished. This is one story that I won’t forget anytime soon and will definitely be listed as one of my top reads of 2017.

This was a very sweet novel. I think the only reason I didn’t enjoy it more was simply because it was very similar to A Man Called Ove and I liked that book better.

But Truluv was a dear! As someone who appreciates the lives of those who came before, I enjoyed the focus on how lives can change and evolve when you least expect them to. We can define our lives, and be remembered for it even once we’re gone.

This was a short, sweet story, and a perfect foil to some of the darker stories I’ve been reading!

I am a huge fan of Elizabeth Berg. Even when I don't love one of her books, I still think it is worth the read. She is a great writer that takes you into the novel and the characters become friends. This book has a lot of heart. At first I wasn't sure if I would like this one as the "old man still in love with his wife" seems to be a big in the quirky humour genre (think [b:A Man Called Ove|18774964|A Man Called Ove|Fredrik Backman|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1405259930l/18774964._SY75_.jpg|21619954] and [b:The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper|26722820|The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper|Phaedra Patrick|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1456116507l/26722820._SY75_.jpg|45981532]). It's not that I didn't like the premise, but sometimes when there is a flood of similar books I tend to get bored of it pretty quick. I get judgemental and put high expectations on the next book.

In this one, we had two other characters that added to the story line. A young girl, Maddy wants to find someone to love her and see that she exists. Living with her widowed father she may as well not be there. She finds herself pregnant, wanting to keep the baby, but alone. Arthur, has lost the love of his life. They weren't blessed with children so they had extra love for one another. With his beloved wife gone, he still has love to give. Arthur's next door neighbour, Lucille has loved one man and has never married. When the man comes back into her life and still wants her, she is ecstatic until he suddenly passes away. After having love again, she feels more alone. These three people, extremely different, find themselves being a family for one another. Instead of tears and sadness, Berg was able to give it humour and heart. I highly recommend this one, and enjoyed the author reading her book on the audiobook.

This was so lovely, so sweet, so cozy. A story of a found family and the love that expands to the stars. I am sad, and happy, and hopeful.
