so great, did make me cry at the end. managed to have us in the climax of the book for 3/4 of it? interesting lore and technology, interesting personal problems and growth that the characters went through. love them all. prose extra good in this one.

This is such an in the middle rating (for now) I might decide to change it later... on a reread maybe? But I'm so annoyed/disappointed in this book but it was also amazing and heart wrenching at times...
Writing - Good
Original Characters - Good
New Characters - Bad
Plot - Bad
And we were actually given TOO MUCH. So much Cosmere, so many returns... it seems to have dampened the mystery of the Cosmere world and leaves me feeling less excited about it all.. I like the secrets, I like the unknown, I like finding out bits here and there, to feel like there's soooo much still left to find out in this vast universe. Instead, it was all handed to us on a platter (kinda).

Not your typical Mistborn novel; The Lost Metal opens the floodgates to all things Cosmere; a certainly wonderful read if you are 'invested' in all the Cosmere works so far!
Details to follow..

So that's the end of era two. It's been a bit of a bumpy ride. Feeling a lot less focused than era one was. A comparison that comes to mind is MCU up to infinity wars vs after.
But I still gave this book four stars. How come? Especially since the last book only got three? Well the time jump helped. Six years to mature the characters really did a lot. The plot is more snappy. Even though sometimes it feels like it's setting up the cosmere more than telling a mistborn story.
But all the characters got fitting endings. Sanderson have really nailed fitting things together. The probelm for era two as a whole for me was that the themes and motives of the characters were not as well written al the way. As I look back I can see the hints but it's clear they were not there from the start in a natural way.
But a good endingwill be remembered so I'm happy to have read the series. The Lost metal is the strongest book in for me Sandersons weakest series. But even at his weakest he is entertains.
