Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC of this book. It took me a while to get into the story. The timeline and narrator shifts felt a bit clunky until the narrators finally came together in one timeline. Overall it was an interesting story, but not a compelling one.

This book is like a dark, twisted mystery “fairy” tale.

I say that as in, the narration and the way it is written feels like a slow moving crime narrative being told to you like a bedtime story.

It’s very onion-layer like. You must flow through it like you’re peeling an onion to get to the pungent center.

I rather enjoyed my time with it. It was one layer after another.

I will say my only issue is a slight one. I struggle when books misrepresent mental illness, especially BPD, so I couldn’t give it a full five stars because the use of BPD did bother me in the way the author used it.

Wow! Could not put this down! I was hooked from the beginning and loved the author's style. Checked off all my boxes: great thriller filled with suspense; learned things within (such as the backstory in Argentina and the citizen crime detectives); rich, multi-dimensional (albeit flawed) characters; and without hitting one over the head, an overarching meaningful theme that will keep me chewing on long after completing it.

The plot wasn't what I expected. Didn't hate it, but didn't love it. Felt someone slow at times, and I was confused at parts.
