Definitely check the trigger warnings for this one. Parts of it are predictably difficult to read, especially some of the descriptions of gore (although they are brief).

The most interesting part of this book to me is the insight it gives into how content moderation affects the people who do it - both in terms of the impact on their mental health, and in terms of some of the material they are viewing
having the intended radicalizing or desensitizing effect, even if they're not someone who is coming across the material organically.
I thought it was also quite interesting to see how the material being viewed affected each person,
for example how the others' antisemetic radicalization was incomprehensible to Kayleigh, even as she was herself being desensitized to sexual violence to the point of possibly re-enacting it, seemingly without any self awareness.

If you're interested in the consequences of the growing volume and consumption of difficult material on the internet, online radicalization, or the way trauma is increasingly built into the experience of someone who uses the internet, you might like this book. Be warned though, it's pretty grim the whole way through.

This book was really good, it has a very shocking ending. I will say that I didn't particularly love the narrating style, it felt a little gimmicky. I do think the overall plot was excellent and the development of the characters was great. Made me feel queasy after I read it. Check the TWs for sure.

Talk about bad decisions.

An insightful look at abuse in the digital age.

This is a startling book, and will not be for everyone. However, the things it says about the depravity of the world, abuse, relationships, and PTSD are important. When does an abuser cross the line? How does an abuser convince themselves what they’re doing is ok? Can trauma justify horrible actions? This story takes unreliable narration to another level. It absolutely left me thinking.

This was definitely a page turner. Difficult to read about what the moderators saw at time but not as intense as I feared it might be. I think I didn’t connect enough with the main character, or any of the characters, but feel like I learned a lot from this book. I’ll definitely be thinking about this one for a while.

Ugh! I wanted this book to be so jarring and messed up and it fell so flat.  The premise is super strong and I wish it was more the moderators having to watch the videos and do something about it and less about the characters outside of work.  Like many people, I’m super confused by the ending and how we go there.  I mean, Kayleigh isn’t a good person but the breaking and entering thing seems random and out of character.  I’m rating this low bc I’m disappointed that it’s not what I thought it would be
