most of the book felt wrong. Qibli was clever as always and managed to find a way around the rules. I don't really like the animus magic stuff but it was done a bit better in this book.

SpoilerI wish Moon didn't feel like she was forced to choose between Qibli and Winter. It's like she thought she needed romance and just randomly chose Qibli. They're good for each other, yes, but i thought moon viewed them as merely friends.

Plus... they seemed to get together reallyyyyy quickly.

Okay, I have never felt so baited in my entire life. I legit thought Clearsight was back and I was screaming. She is my absolute favourite character. Then-

why does she have no personality?!

*sobs* she's not actually in here...

Okay, that aside, the dragons really are just teenagers having a rough time with puberty. dragons have feelings too!

I don’t know what I think of this book honestly.
I was hyped for a Qibli POV though I knew it would be difficult to maintain throughout a whole book. But it didn’t feel like Qibli at all. Moon Rising emphasised that he’s the king of risk assessments but he made a lot of poorly thought out decisions for plot convenience.
Plus, I guessed Moon would get with Qibli, but it was really poorly done. I didn’t think either couple seemed like it was more likely to happen out of either of them based on relationships. Heck, since there’s a canon LGBT crush on the series now, Winter and Qibli had far more chemistry.
Plus, I don’t know how I feel about the fate of Darkstalker. It’s a bit too much like the Hailstorm situation I think, plus, while I know Kinkajou orchestrated it, and there’s the whole ‘how would there be a half-IceWing at this moment in time’ situation, it would’ve been more poignant for Peacemaker to be half-IceWing still.
But I LOVED the prologue and epilogue. Both were great. Though I was expecting more from Onyx and Icicle in this book.
I think this arc was a bit too over ambitious, but it still was a fun read and had its wholesome moments.

This is the best book in the whole 14-book saga so far. Tui T. Sutherland amazes in the final book set on Pyrrhia.

this has spoilers lmao

a sliiiiightly lower rating than what i usually give the series
but still good
i loved reading from qibli's pov, he's just so clever and his mind is EVERYWHERE at once its so fun
there were a couple of plots that kinda were dropped at the end
like prickle????? girl where u at
and then the deal w onyx was never really closed up like is she still wanting to be queen or
and vulture where the fuck did he poof off too
the big thing for me tho was i was slightly disappointed by the defeat of darkstalker??? i felt like there was a lot of effort put in to make us see that darkstalker isnt totally bad and for the audience to feel conflicted like moon, but he was never given a chance to reach closure, it was kind of forced on him
i would have much preferred if it was his choice to eat the strawberry, as a sort of acknowledgment that he was not good and to see him grow a bit in an attempt to start again since he didnt have anything to fight for (we see that internal debate a few times, like he mentions once or twice that he doesnt know if its worth it to be kind w/o clearsight)
his convos w qibli were so fun, tho, i never thought of them being similar but dam
overall tho super fun as usual
the reveal at the end was unf like give me more dragons thaNks
